At the southest coast of the peninsula, 85 kilometers far from the hotels in  the city of Volos is situated the quiet, traditional fish village. At the fish taverns of the village you can find fresh fish and delicious spaghetti with sea food!

Famous beaches of Pelion in Aegean Sea

Some beaches are perfectly combined with your stay in one of the coastal or mountainous hotels in Pelion.

Just before you set off to south-west Pelion, you can stop at Mourtias to take a dive in the deep blue waters, and taste the dishes of fresh fish and delicious sea food by the sea. This place is called Platanias. You can follow the path which passes by the sea to reach after 10 minutes at a place called Mikro. The beach is formed by crystal waters and a golden beach and it is unique the fact that it is not as crowded as all the other beaches.

This is a small settlement by the sea with an exceptional golden sand and clean sea. It is 57 kilometers far from the hotels in the city of Volos and 7 kilometers far from Lafko. The beach of Mikro is one of the most beautiful beaches with a lot of trees, sand, pebbles and clean waters. Although Mikro is a small settlement the beach is much known. You can find taverns and a bar which are open during all the year round ! On 6th August, there is a festivity.

Katigiorgis is a small, picturesque settlement by the sea with a natural small port. It is 68 kilometers south-eastbound from the hotels in  Volos, at the coast of Aegean Sea. It is just across Skiathos island .

The sandy beach Kastri is ideal for wind surfing. You can enjoy a heaven landscape, 68 kilometers far from the hotels in  the city of Volos. It is a beautiful settlement by the sea with vegetation and a golden beach. You can find accommodation and a tavern on the beach. To go out at night you can visit at a small distance, Platanias where you can find fish taverns at the port of the village, restaurants and bars. You can also find an organized camping.

The beach called Paltsi is one of the most known at the east coast of Pelion. It is big with sand and it is ideal for relaxation under the summer sun. It is a big region with the most peaceful settlement by the sea and the big sandy beach of Agios Konstantinos. It is 13 kilometers away from Argalasti and 53 kilometers far from the hotels in the city of Volos. You can go for a walk following the path to Lafko (almost 2,5 hours) which is a marvelous route through the running waters and the green vegetation. You can visit the monastery of Agios Athanasios which is located a few kilometers before you reach Lafko, which was built in1795 by Stergios Basdekis. On the 5th and 6th September, there is a big festivity.

The beach in Potistika is a well-known beach in Pelion with many tourists. There is sand and it is the perfect place to relax in the natural environment.

It is a peaceful settlement by the sea 53 kilometers far from the hotels in the city of Volos with a sandy beach which is waiting for you to sunbathe. Potistika is situated in a marvelous location. You can find a restaurant which serves French food and coffee. If you want to have fun you can go to Argalasti.

Next to Potistika, there is Melani which was named after the deep blue color of its waters.

The beaches mentioned from this point are combined with your stay at the hotels in Agios Ioannis, Papa Nero, Ntamouhari, Tsagarada and so on.

32 kilometers far from the city of Volos and 15 minutes from Milies, there is a place called Kalamki or Propan, as the habitants call it. This place is being described by its name. It was named after the beautiful beach which is 2 kilometers far from the center of the village, from where running water through the rocks springs. The second name Propan is because the village is across the Aegean Sea from which the sun rises. The traditional stone “propan” is excavated at this place and with which the monasteries in Agio Oros have been built as well as all the paths in Pelion.

Labinou is a small, beautiful beach 14 kilometers far from Milies. To get there, you set off to Tsagarada, you turn right at the proper sign and you go down to the sea. After you pass by the monastery of Labidona, the way drives you to a place where you can park your car. You can find the beach not far from this spot, which you have to cross on foot. The beach is beautiful and the waters are deep and blue. Around the beach there are rocks which form caves. The beach is not organized. You can find just a small tavern.

Tsagarada is extended on a slope in Pelion, and it is one of the most popular places. It is a perfect place for summer and winter vacations. It is 8 kilometers far from the beach called Milopotamos and the beach called Fakistra. You can find everywhere running waters and bridges. It is a mountainous village 54 kilometers far from the hotels of the city of Volos at an altitude of 450 meters. It consists of four quarters, Agia Paraskevi, Agia Kiriaki, Agios Stefanos and Agioi Taxiarhes. You should visit the square of Agia Paraskevi and enjoy your coffee or your drink under the shadow of a plane.

At the square of Agioi Taxiarhes, drink water from the spring and relax under the shadow of a plane.

Go to Milopotamos and Fakistra to swim.

It is one of the most popular beaches in Pelion. The environment is impressive with the giant rocks and the golden beach, while the deep blue waters are always clean. There is one smaller beach through the rocks.

This is the second famous beach  in Pelion through a rocky landscape and rich vegetation. It is 8 kilometers far from Tsagarada with a sandy beach and crystal blue-green waters that you will remember forever! It is worth going into the rock!

Not far from Milopotamos, you can find Damouhari which is a small settlement separated into two coves. You can walk through the cobbled paths from Tsagarada to Mouresi and back.

The beach in Papa Nero is a perfect, sandy beach where the rich green vegetation reaches the sea. This is a place to relax.

It is a fairy sandy beach 56 kilometers far from the hotels of the city of Volos and 4 kilometers far from Mouresi. The green color of the mountain is combined with the blue color of the sea. You can taste the excellent dishes just before the village, on the way to Mouresi, at the restaurant “Stathis” and enjoy your meal with a view to Agios Ioannis and the endless blue of the Aegean Sea. To have fun at night you will go to Agios Ioannis, a place which attracts many tourists during summer.

The beach called Agios Ioannis is situated at the east coast of Pelion, 55 kilometers far from the hotels of the city of Volos. It is a beautiful village by the sea with an endless beach full of white pebbles. It is the center of the amusement at the north-east coast in Pelion and it has a tourist infrastructure. Along the beach, you will find superb, picturesque taverns and you will taste fresh sea food. You will find exactly what you need to have fun, till early in the morning, if this is what you wish. Then you will enjoy the sun rise and you will think that the sun is coming just out of the sea. You can swim at the beach of Agios Ioannis and at the sandy beach of Plaka.

At Agios Dimitrios, you can find boats, sea bicycles and canoe to rent. You can also visit the churches of Agios Georgios and Agios Ioannis. Moreover, you can visit the folklore museum in Agios Dimitrios. During summer there are interesting cultural manifestations called “Pilia”. On the 24th June at the celebration of the church Agios Ioannis, you will get to know many customs. During summer there are many cultural festivities called “Argonautica”.

The beach called Agioi Saranta is situated at the north part of Agios Ioannis and is one of the most famous beaches in Pelion. The waters are blue and green, while the golden sand of the beach turns into small pebbles. It is a settlement by the sea 49 kilometers far from the hotels of the city of Volos. It is a narrow, downhill, asphalt road which leads to Makrirahi(3km) to a beautiful, big beach with golden sand and crystal blue waters.

The taverns at the beach offer traditional dishes and tsipouro. There are also beach bars. At the right side of the beach you will find “Kalogeros”, a huge rock which has the shape of a monk.

The beach called Horefto is very beautiful as it is surrounded by rich vegetation,which reaches the sea at some points. It has clean waters and a peaceful environment which is ideal for your relaxation. It is a big, sandy beach with clean waters!

It is next to the sea, 56 kilometers far from the hotels of the city of Volos and 9 kilometers far from Zagora. It has a good, tourist infrastructure, lots of places to stay, taverns and bars.

Is has been a well-known port from where the Zagorians set off their journeys for the markets to East and Europe.

From the north part of the village there is a path to the isolated beaches to Parisena and Analipsi. You can visit Palia Mitzela by caique and admire the sea caves at the region of the ancient “Ipnoi”
