Famous beaches of Pelion in Pagasitikos gulf
During your stay at the hotels in the city of Volos and in the suburbs as for instance in Portaria, you can find some beaches which are not far and they are clean and developed.
Agria
It is 7 kilometers far from the hotels in  the city of Volos, a town quite developed, that during the summer is visited by many tourists and it has many good choices to eat (taverns, “tsipoyradika”), drink a coffee, have a drink and so on. The main beach of the region is called Soutrali!
It is worth visiting the little church of Timios Stavros, the little church of Panagia Goritsa and the one of Panagia Tripa which is built in a rock in the sea.
Kato Lehonia
This is the first beach you will meet when you come from the hotels in  the city of Volos. You can find many bars and cafeterias that can offer you relaxation while you enjoy your coffee or drink. It is near Volos. The village of flowers, as it is called, offers heady perfumes during spring. The habitants of the region deal with the cultivation of flowers and fruit. At a small distance from the village you will find “Hatzivaggelis” coast where you can enjoy your meal at a quiet fish taverns by the sea.
Platanidia
It is a settlement next to the sea, almost 2 kilometers far from Ano Lehonia and it is a summer resort. It used to be called Methoni and on the way to the settlement you can find the derelict towel of Olympios and the Neoclassical Kontou residence.
Malaki
The settlement which is next to the sea on the main street to South Pelion is 16 kilometers far from the hotels in the city of Volos, with an easy access to the big beach. There has been discovered a cave with an underground river and a small lake.
Kato Gatzea
It is 17 kilometers far from Volos. It is worth visiting the monastery of Agia Triada and the sandy beach with the taverns.
Kala Nera
The beautiful, next to the sea resort in the Pagasitikos gulf, is just 18 kilometers far from the hotels in  city of Volos. The beach at the tourist resort Kala Nera is one of the most known beaches and it has been awarded with the blue flag. The waters are very clean and you will enjoy the summer sun. Along the beach which is covered with planes and eucalyptus, you can find taverns, “tsipouradika”, bars, cafeterias and so on.
At the north part of the beach falls the flood Bellegrino, which is the natural boundary which separates Kala Nera and Koropi.
During summer seson, many cultural festivities take place and, of course, the celebration of Panagia on  15 August.
Kadi
The sandy, organized beach called Kadi not far from Kala Nera, where the combination of facilities (beach bars, tennis court and a good restaurant), the beautiful sea and the nice environment promise you an ideal destination to swim.
Boufa
Boufa is the biggest beach in Pelion and is situated between Kala Nera and Afissos. Moreover, it is one of the most famous beaches with clear waters, which attracts many tourists!
Kalamos
At the coastline of Pagasitikos gulf you can find very beautiful and picturesque villages which are ideal to go on vacation. One of these is Kalamos which is 46 kilometers far from the hotels in the city of Volos and just 6 kilometers far from Argalasti. Kalamos is the ideal suggestion to relax as it combines the green color of the trees and the blue waters away from the noise and the stress of the city. It is a quiet fish village with beautiful, traditional houses which has lately become a resort.
Afissos
The most famous beaches in Afissos is Abovos and Kalifteri with sand and clean waters. It is 25 kilometers far from the hotels in  the city of Volos. It was where the Argonauts stopped to supply their ship with water for their journey to Kolhida.
It is built amphitheatrically in huge olive groves and it has a full tourist infrastructure. You can find fish taverns, restaurants, beach bars and cafeterias.
Just before the village, you can find the beach called Kalifteri and after the village you can find the beach called Abovos. They are both marvelous. It is the perfect place for you to enjoy the sunset.
During the summer season, there are many festivities which are called “Argonautica”
Lefokastro
This picturesque settlement is 6 kilometers far from Argalasti and 34 kilometers far from the hotels in  the city of Volos.
Relax and enjoy the beach with the clean waters, the original beauty of the landscape, have lunch at one of the traditional taverns by the sea and drink your coffee during sunset.
The way which passes by Lefokastro goes through the huge olive groves and many beaches and reaches Afissos.
Milina
It is a village by the sea 49 kilometers far from the hotels city in Volos and has been transformed in one of the most important coastal resorts at this region. At the settlement of Agios Andreas 2 kilometers far from Milina on the way to Trikeri, and on the hill, there are ruins of the ancient city called Olizon, whose king was Filoktitis. At the picturesque port called Valtoudi, there is the little island called Alatas and behind the gulf the little island called Prassouda. You can visit the little island of Agioi Saranta in Alatas and the monastery of Zoodohos Pigi in Prassouda, which was built in the 17th century, by caique or by your own boat. We can assume that at the spot where the little church of Agia Marina is situated was once the sanctuary of Thetida. On the 15th August there are many cultural festivities of music, dance and theatre.
