Well-known beaches in Skopelos Stafilos The beach called Stafilos is the nearest beach from the city of Skopelos as it is only 4 kilometers far from the hotels in the city of Skopelos. It is a beautiful gulf with a unique sandy beach and crystal blue waters. It is one of the most “socialite” beaches of the island. You can find two restaurants, deck-chairs and umbrellas and leasable rooms. Do not forget to visit the famous Stafilos’ cave. The beach was named after the legendary Prince Stafilos, whose grave was found at the small naze at the coastline with the golden sword which is being exposed at the archaeological museum of Athens. According to the legend Prince Stafilos, who was king Dionysos’ and Ariadni’s son, settled in Skopelos in 1600 b.C.
Velanio Velanio is the extension of the beach of Skopelos which is separated with a small naze. It is a big, sandy beach with crystal clear waters. There are deck-chairs and umbrellas and at the end of the beach there is a spring with potable water. It used to be a famous beach for nudists.
Agnontas
The beach called Agnontas is 8 kilometers away from the hotels in the city of Skopelos. It is a piny beach with pebbles, great sunsets, picturesque taverns by the sea and many leasable rooms.
The blue-green waters of the sea invite you to take a cool dive. After the swimming do not forget to feast the excellent dishes at the taverns of the region and, of course, you should not leave without drinking a coffee under the Mouria(mulberry). The little port is being used from the ships when the north winds of great strength prevail at the port of Skopelos. It is the ideal spot for those who own dinghies as it is safe to anchor.
Limnonari
Just before the beach Agnontas you can find a beach called Limnonari. Almost 10 kilometers far from the hotels in the city of Skopelos, this is a forgotten and abstracted beautiful beach. It is worth visiting it, but you can reach it by car, taxi or motorbike, as the bus cannot reach this beach. Not far from the beach there is a traditional tavern.
Panormos
The beach Panormos is located 14 kilometers far from the hotels in the city of Skopelos and it is one of the most popular beaches of the island. It is a huge cove with a big beach with pebbles and many little coves with crystal blue-green waters. At this part of the island, you can enjoy one of the best sunsets. There is a worthy, tourist infrastructure with deck-chairs and umbrellas for you to rent and many taverns, cafeterias, shops and leasable rooms.
Antrina
The legend says that Antrinas were named after the woman pirate Antrina, who got to the island
on a pirate ship and her men to conquer it. Antrina’s pirates got off to Panormos while she hid the ship in one of the little coves and waited. Her men were all beaten by the habitants and when Antrina learnt the bad news she fell in the sea and she got drowned.
The Antrinas are between Panormos and Milia in a very beautiful place where there are small, quiet and isolated coves. The small beaches have pebbles and pine shadow. You can get there easily using the paths which come down from the main street.
Milia
This is the most beautiful and big beach on the island which has a golden sand. You can find it next to Panormos and Antrinas. It is an organized beach, where a lot of people are gathered. There you can do water sports in the crystal waters and if you want to be alone, you can walk until the end of the beach where you can find small, quiet coves behind the rocks. The small, piny island called Dasia is across Milia.
Kastani
The beach called Kastani is 14 kilometers far from the hotels in the city of Skopelos and is located just next to Milia. It is a beautiful beach with crystal waters and a marvelous view. You can meet a lot of people during high season (July-August), while the rest of the time it is quiet.
Elios
It is known as “Neo Klima” as well. It was pretty damaged during the earthquake in 1965. Elios was built again and this is a new resort with a long, sandy beach.
Glossa
The second bigger city of the island is located 30 kilometers far from the hotels in the city of Skopelos and it is built amphitheatrically underneath the hill with the traditional houses. It is not a tourist resort and it has few shops. You can find the church of Panagia Parthenos if you wonder at its picturesque paths.
Loutraki
Loutraki is the second port you will meet as you come on this island. There is a small cove on the right part of the fishing port. This is a traditional fishermen’s place which is 15 minutes far from the hotels of the city of Skopelos.
