ART CENTRE GIORGIO DE CHIRICO
The Art Centre Giorgio De Chirico, owes his name to the important Italian painter, who was born in Volos. In the buildings' three floors is permanently exhibited the collector Alexandros Damtsa's art gallery, with about 500 tables from all the important artistic currents of our century. The above work is distributed in gkravoyres, maps and documents for the region, in Greek carvers' work as well as of Volo's, Magnesia's and Thessaly's artists. The bigger part of the donation covers the Greek painters' work of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century.
In other spaces of the Art Centre are regularly hosted reports of varied figurative interest.
In the first floor of the Giorgio De Chirico's building, is exhibited the Greek artist's work Alexandros Damtsas, which include pieces from his personal collection but also from other artists - painters.
Part the Alexandros Damtsa's collection, constitute the clippings from the Greek and foreigner press, via/through which foreigner journalists and correspondents in Greece, as well as foreigner artists, present but also promote from their own optical corner/point of view, Greece of  the Turkish possession's period. We will also see a lot of local but also world maps, creations of that season.

In the exhibit, we will distinguish the different time periods which deal with different subjects but also techniques such as the lithography and the copper engraving. Pictures from the period of the 17th - 19th century, where are presented subjects from the Fight/Revolution, the period of the Greek Revolution. Forms of Turks and Greeks of that season, where we distinguish both privileged and simple citizens. Young girls' pictures, men's and ladies', wearing the season's costume.
The artists, transport us the social substance and the season's climate through pictures, where the relations' breadth is presented, from submission up to diplomatic level, between Greeks and Turks.
In the period of Modern Greek carving, we distinguish subjects from the Greek's release, in which also appears the decisive role of the season's  priests.
The category of Pioneers, presents us portraits but also landscapes with subjects from the nature, through intense chromatically and schematically pictures. Characteristic are the two works that are presented to us by the known artist - painter, Hatzikyriako-Gika Nino (1906 - 1994), that have the title "Fyllosies/Foliation" and "Birds". We will distinguish white-black pictures from the Volo's society, such as paths, the Panagia Goritsa's church which is found in the region of Anavros, from the Agia Larissa's region where are portrayed women that spin as well as from Crete's Chania.
