Car Club in Volos was founded in 1976. Back then, it was called Car and Motorcycle Club of Volos.
The purpose of the people who founded the club was their love for the Power Driven Sport and the spread of this habit so as it would be well known to others. Apart from the races, the foundation of a Club in the city of Volos aimed at the spread of love for the car, the organization of performances-events-excursions, the presentation of the rules of drivers’ behavior and so on.
     The first races, that were organized by the club, were races to present the drivers’ skills and took place at the coast of Volos and the area where the hospital is located. Afterwards, the Club organized skill presenting races in front of the University of Thessaly which is located at the coast of Volos.
In 1977 A Moto Cross race was successfully organized.
The organization of the Rally “Kentavros” began later in 1978 when it was not considered to be part of the championship. However, in 1979 the 1st Rally “Kentavros” was realized and since then it has always been thought as a part of the Rally Championship. All these years the race has been loved and, nowadays, it is thought to be one of the most significant races of the year because the magnificent driving on the Mount Pelion is mostly preferred by the contestants and the spectators since they can enjoy a pleasant, two day trip as well.

     The ascension to Portaria began in 1982 and this kind of race has become quite popular. This sport’s fans have adored this race due to the beauty of the area and therefore more than 90 participants take part in it every year.

The love for the cars predominated over the motorcycle.

     Up to this day, apart from Rally “Kentavros” and the ascension to Portaria, which take place every year, the Club has organized successfully Rally Sprint on Mount Pelion (Afetes) and on Chania. The last few years the Club successfully organizes Sprint “Othris” in Almiros. Moreover, it has organized many Kart races at the race-track that existed back then, which was located next to the Panthessaliko Stadium. In 1986 the Club helped successfully for the car race to be organized, in the Industrial area in Volos, in cooperation with the Racing Car Club of Athens. Furthermore the experienced personnel of the Club has taken part in countless organizations of Rally Acropolis, Rally Halkidiki and the greek-italian race and in various races. In addition, over the years the Club has organized excursions to enjoy Formula 1 races in order for its members to get experience.

      The last few years the Club aims at both the spread of the power driven sport and the entertainment of its members. What is more, it is interested in developing the tourism in Magnesia, in providing help to the state, in improving the traffic in the city as well as the drivers’ conscience, so as less accidents will occur.
In 2011 the Club has become 35 years old!
